Word of Life Provides for Children at Risk!

Word of Life Christian Center has linked hearts and arms to partner with Be A Hero to accomplish more together than we could individually. Word of Life Christian Center is the national base for Be A Hero USA. Be A Hero gave away over 4 million dollars last year to relieve suffering children around the world. In addition, Word of Life has built two orphanages in Namugongo, Uganda, Africa through Be A Hero in cooperation with the Uganda Welfare Mission. This allowed Word of Life the privilege of providing 36 children with homes, food, clothing, education, and medical care.

What is Be A Hero?

Be A Hero is a not for profit organization working to raise an army of Heroes for an urgent global crisis- suffering children. We believe that everyone has a dream of doing something significant with his or her life- Be A Hero aspires to re-ignite the latent desire, and provide the tools to make the dream a reality. We connect everyday, ordinary people with opportunities to change the world, in small and in large ways. Our vision is to show others how they can Be A Hero to the 1.2 billion `children at risk´ because of poverty, homelessness, child labor, slavery, sexual exploitation, Aids, plagues, and war.

The Situation:

More than a billion children or 56% are living in severe deprivation.
An estimated 500 million children live with debilitating hunger.
15 million children are orphaned as a result of Aids.
150 million children live on the streets because of poverty, neglect or abuse.
An estimated 10 million children have been forced into the sex trade industry.
34 million children have no access to any school whatsoever.
More than 245 million children between the ages of 5 and 14 are child laborers.
300,000 young people are exploited as child soldiers.

The Strategy:

In partnership with ground-level, proven, seasoned organizations we fight to save dying children by sponsoring orphans, building orphanages and schools, developing micro-enterprises, advocacy, and prayer.

2. A Hero sponsors a child.
3. A Hero partners in a Children´s Home or Project.
4. A Hero advocates for the children at risk.
5. A Hero goes on a Hero Holiday.
